I used to try to extend my garden as long as possible but now I realize that is a losing battle, no matter what I do winter is going to come lol. I don't know about you guys but I find when it starts to get cold the veggies taste different. So now as soon as something looks a little off I pull it. I am so sick of making soups, sauces and sandwiches that I am looking forward to a killing frost!!! Lol. We didn't have frost yet but close. Two nights it went to +3 but fog kept the frost away, doesn't matter however, I find since that happened the tomatoes lost their flavor and taste like tomatoes from a fridge.

Some veggies only come in to their own after first frost i.e. parsnip
Potato tops on my red potatoes are still green, not sure where they are going with that, should really check if there are any actual potatoes, or if they used all their energy growing tree-like tops?

they only things making it to frost this year for me are the sweet potatoes (will get pulled the evening before forecasted frost) and the brussel sprouts. i have indeed picked brussel sprouts out of the snow in the middle of winter. they do taste better after.
I still have to do the mint, oregano, sage, chives, rest of the parsley, basil and savory....but i'm sick to death of tomatoes. they are ONLY picked for BLTs now....

OC if they are anything like my Pontiac Reds don't worry, the Pontiacs grow like wild potato bushes almost up to my elbows but still produce oodles of potatoes. You will probably see a change soon I think.

This heat killed my snow peas and makes my spinach bolt, I miss those, not the same if you have to buy them.
