Have had it the last few years
So we made the garden larger and moved the tomato plants to the new area
They have it again this year!!!
Someone just told me if you pour milk on the roots it will stop it
Has anyone ever heard of this?

Im not much of a gardener yet as im still learning... I had Clawton over this afternoon and he pointed out that some of our cucumbers have bligbt. he also said there was a baking soda treatment. thanks for the garden tips man!

well I got to google and found a recipe. no idea if it works or not but im guna start spraying tommorow.

I had blight last year and the year before and it has been said by various people and many websites you need to go a good 2 years not growing tomatoes.

I have little cherry tomatoes in a few pots in the deck. Id like to say they are good but the flipping chipmunks have eaten them all. There isn't any signs of blight.

I will likely not grow in the garden next year just to make it the 2 years that is preached.

P.S. Vesseys has a blight resistant tomato I'll grow when the 2 years is up.

It looks like blossom end rot. if I recall correctly, it's from a calcium imbalance in the soil...yep, looked it up. https://bonnieplants.com/library/conque ... m-end-rot/
So, pouring milk on the roots sort of makes sense in this case as a calcium source, but there are cheaper fixes...crushed eggshells, gypsum, crushed limestone, or increasing soil ph to make calcium more available to the plant
Blight will cause spots in various places and kill the whole plant.

We had a specialist on tomatoes speak at some garden doo in the spring and he said your tomatoe plant at one point got dehydrated hense the black at the base of the tomatoe

This product is what I spread around my tomatoes after I plant them. I have done this for 3 years now and have had no blight or that other disease that makes all the leaves go yellow and fall off.

I use an Epsom salts spray. Blossom end rot and blight (early or late) are 2 different problems blights being phytophthera.

I buy the blight resistant seeds from veseys and holy crap do i have tomatoes this year! and not a speck of blight anywhere. your first photo looks like early blight spot. but the second is a calcium and uneven water problem....blossom end rot.....they got dry (hmmm....wonder how THAT could have happened this year [sarcasm] LOL)....a few of my first did until i started watering religiously this year. now i can't keep up with them. just throw those in the compost and start watering a bit if you can and upcoming tomatoes should be okay. but remove those ones from the vines and the ground or the spores will infect everything else and you'll lose a lot this year. but next year you'll be okay.

i've grown the ones from veseys for 3 years now, and won't look back. we have commercial fields not to far away so it's hopeless to stop the spores from the blight from hitting my garden. i can recommend the blight resistant ones, they have always grown amazing for me. and if you start them first week of april, you'll have flowers before they get in the garden june 1 and tomatoes by july 15.

My plants are beautiful. No leaves falling off yellowing or anything like that. So I will go out today and pick off all the ones with spots on bottom of tomatoes Hopefully it's not too many
Another question. Does everyone leave the leaves all on the plant or do you pick a bunch off to let light into tomatoes to ripen?
My cherry tomatoes are also being eaten by chipmunks!!!
