So my Caribes that were sprouting in the basement that I put in about the 20 March are blooming. I can never remember. Isn't it about 2 weeks after blooming that I can have the first new potatoes of the year? I will probably get over excited and kill one or two before they are ready. There is nothing better than the first meal of new potatoes of the year. And after a while potato salad, and fried new potatoes. Oh, I could go on and on.......

After blooming and the blooms have died back i start rooting around with my hands in the dirt for the new potatoes...you shouldn't hurt anything if you don't pick them all or trash the roots too badly. :-)
Love this time of year, fresh stuff from the garden is the BEST!
