Our Chadwick cherry are still going crazy! Abu Rawan has been great this year which is odd since it usually does better in hot and dry. I've taken the fence down round the toms now since I have loads of sauce and soups frozen down. The cantaloupes are plentiful but don't taste great. Not sure why???

@lolotsung
I ferment tomato seeds in a little shot glass. Squeeze seeds and gel in, adding a little water. I leave it on the kitchen windowsill so i can keep an eye on it (adding more water if it looks dry). After 4-5 days, a fungal layer will appear on top. Scape that off and pour the seeds into a strainer. Put it under the cold tap for a good rinse, then empty the contents onto a ceramic or paper plate and leave on a windowsill in the sun to dry thoroughly before bagging.

:lol: Thanks @labradors this sounds easier and more organized than my method. I wanted the landscape person to build a raised vege garden bed for our veges. I have a dill plant in hydroponics indoors and i think it is starting to flower. It is about 3 feet tall. I'm not sure what to do with it now :lol:

@Killerbunny I wonder if it was too wet for the melons and watered down the taste? Haven't tasted mine yet from the one plant the bunnies didn't eat....

Hydroponics, I'm improving. Think I prefer soil though. Water once a week and forget about it. Had a little help from my son though. 😆Has anyone tried digging a tomato plant out of the ground and bringing it indoors?

I think you'd do better to take a cutting (now) and use fresh, sterilized potting mix. You don't want to bring in any "nasties" from outside, especially when you are growing hydroponics.

I was going to bring in cuttings from a few of my compact tomatoes, but unfortunately, I discovered spider mites on all my containers that were sheltered from the rain ..... It will be safer for me to start from seed.

Where do you normally buy soil? At a garden center?

I use Pro-mix which is sold at all the big box stores. I buy a big bag as I use it for everything, including potting up my tomato seedlings in the spring.
