I love New potatoes
I was hilling some of my early plant potatoes today. Got a little close to one. Kicked out one about the size of a pullet egg with the hoe. One of that Muffin special red and white pinto. Planted about the 10 of April I think. so two months in the ground. I expect I will have a meal of perch and new potatoes and a garden salad tomorrow. One of the finer things in life.

What a cool-looking potato, I can't wait to hear the verdict on whether they taste as good as they look

Early in the day, will know for sure later, but from last year, I am really impressed with these guys. Early. Good taste and texture. Thin skin when mature. Good keepers. I am figuring to grow these and Caribes and not bother with anything else.
Muffin, did that have a variety name?

Re: I love New potatoes
My "Muffin special" survivors provided a nice Thanksgiving host gift last year and saved 2 & 1/2 for planting.
The shoots are up, about the size of @Farrier1987 potatoes so here is hoping I will actually get to taste them this year.
Can't believe you actually have ready to eat potato and I am half way thru planting them.

FALSE ALARM! FALSE ALARM!
Well, I went out to dog, and there was one more under that plant, about the size of a dime, and all red. Not sure if I picked the wrong plant that the hoe kicked that other teaser out of? But I am not going to kill any more plants checking. Back to plan A, which is the plant blooms and falls off, then two weeks, you should have potatoes. And they are just starting to bloom, have had one or two plants in bloom for a week, just starting to fall off. Nothing but a tease, reminds me of a girlfriend I once had.

Re: I love New potatoes
OK, a week after my false alarm. We are going to eat new potatoes. Had to kill three plants to feed three people, but worth it. I will have to kind of lay off for a week or more again, but this first taste is special.
