Patio potatoes
Patio potatoes
Does any know? Do I have to water them a fair bit, I don't want to drown them. Should I put some cow manure on them? I would like to try for large potatoes. Heres a picture of how they are doing so far.

Re: Patio potatoes
No manure for potatoes. You could do some liquid fertiliser maybe?

Yup, something like that. Maybe someone here has done this before ? @baronrenfrew because you want to promote tuber growth not foliage.

Re: Patio potatoes
Looks like a pretty limited space for tubers?
I wouldn't put anything on them if you plan to eat them.

Re: Patio potatoes
do not use miracle grow! you'll get all leaf and no tubers. best is if they are in half decent dirt is do nothing.....sun, water...let them do the rest. and hill that dirt as far as you can without it coming out of the pot.

Re: Patio potatoes
Are the pots clay or plastic. Clay pots dry out very quickly. Either way give them a good soaking (save rain water if you can) every 2-3 days as long as they have good drainage. Ideally they need to absorb 1" of water per week

I also suggest next time you start them with the pot only half full. Then once they are about 3 inches above the top of the pot fill it with a nice sandy loam soil to attain the hilling effect.
Good luck.
