wow. those are some big coyotes there ross!
my hubby had a pack of 6 follow him while he was running the dogs to the road and back on night last week at dusk....they didn't seem afraid at all, so he came back a little bit faster. wish i'd gotten some yote hunting in this winter, maybe next year....

yep! open all year!
i can shoot the .22LR okay, but doubt it would take one of them down-and they don't deserve being injured....i prefer the .270 for yotes, and that gun, well, with the back the recoil is just enough to dissuade a second shot for a few minutes. gotta get this back fixed, then i'll be right out there. for now, the 22 is never far, it would be enough to scare them off for sure. although, i'm happy to say the new antiinflammatories are making it tempting to try the shotgun for turkey season....last fall it was NOT good, but things are feeling quite a bit better the last couple of weeks. fingers crossed!

When using .22 I use Hollow point at right yardage with my old Cooey & scope head shots work well .

thats why i suggested the mini 14. theres no where near as much recoil as a 270 when shooting .223 or 5.56 and the semi auto would knock down that recoil even more. I want one but man they are a grand! used there still $600+.

I only saw the one set coyote tracks here around the bush and that random guy running througn the field got it. I sure hope it was the only one, but when Kathy was here we noticed some large tracks around the run. I just hope hope hope they were from my dog and just askewed.

I find most folks overkill the firepower thinking bigger is better & dont (perfect) practice enough or want to shoot from one county to the other . . .22 or .22-250 inexpensive used & cheaper to run . Luck . . By calling I find I can get um in close & a 20 ga works well with slugs or BB .when out I carry my shotgun & .22 , not always a good shot with either so I pass . The fun / hunt is in calling um in close . Luck
