I signed a petition against this back in winter . Not saying nothing to worry about but it is a private members bill which very seldom go any where . Luck
Keep vigilant tho . Just picked up another 200 acres close by to fish& hunt .

Well that bill will definitely make game farms, put n take pheasant hunting and dog training illegal. cant release an animal and then kill it. and it is definitely lacking any exceptions for hunting and fishing. has no definitions for what it means to kill an animal brutally and leaves it all open to interpretation.

dog training with live birds. usually bobwhite quail but could also be pheasant or chuker.

Good luck on your upcoming class! ask the instructor about this bill, should make for a good conversation.

Bill C-246 was written and presented by Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, a Toronto lawyer/ Liberal MP. There is ambiguity in the wording that would allow for a wide variety of interpretations that would open the door to challenges against more than just shark fin harvesting. No doubt in my mind that a well educated, young urban, lawyer/politician is capable of writing up a Bill without ambiguous language. Also no doubt in my mind that the ambiguity is very intentional.

Thanks Dean. I always value your political insight!

Yup the lack of wording would make killing a mosquito or rodents illegal... rat traps are pretty brutal yet effective killing machines.

Ever more important for the children growing up today to get outdoors, into nature and keep our heritage alive!

Thanks Al :) , and I agree with you whole heartedly. If kids aren't influenced by being involved in our outdoor and agricultural heritage activities, then they are going to be influenced by the anti- fur, fishing, hunting, livestock rearing, sealing etc agenda's of others.

Called my MP to express my concerns and request that he be vocal in opposition to C-246.
