Late Fall Fishing

Post by JimW » Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:05 pm

Well with more cold temperatures and snow coming, I knew the days fishing in the boat would be limited since I do not have indoor storage and want to get the boat winterized and wrapped before too much snow. So have been out in the boat every weekend and took a "mental health" day earlier this week. Fall is big fish time so we have been searching for trophy walleye, pike and lake trout on the Bay of Quinte and Eastern Lake Ontario.

Here are a few fish that have visited the boat the last few weeks....

On December 1st the lake trout season opens back up on Lake Ontario after they spawn which is awesome, so during the summer you need downriggers fishing in 100 plus feet of water, but come December we are catching these fish in 15-20 feet of water!!

A nice Lake Ontario pike decided to visit as we searched for lake trout.

Here are a couple video clips from the underwater camera...

Unfortunately December 8th was the last day out in the boat, she is getting wrapped this weekend and going to sleep until mid-March when we will be out searching for monster lake trout again. Hopefully for next year I can get rid of some of the unnecessary junk in my garage (lawn mower, lawn tractor, snowblower....) so I can get my boat inside and use it anytime of year.
