DH got one 15 minutes into legal this morning. i managed to get home in time to go out this afternoon and bagged mine at 5!!! not quite a double header, but pretty close! Keep at it Ross! you'll get yours!
I am very very glad it only took 1 shot for me! Mine was about 15 feet away, and ironically stupidly i had the turkey choke in (early season no leaves up). the kick was something fierce with the turkey choke and i haven't done much shooting since the surgery on my back. I hope things get better again over night. i might end up being a bow hunter.....trying to figure out if practicing with light loads and maybe getting a 20g again. i sold my 20 to you actually a few years back, might get another.....i do believe that Lizzie has that one now doesn't she? anyways, one shot, done and in the freezer. and actually paper tags are easy to notch if you forget a knife!!! LOL. and didn't see any ticks today, but i'm sure they're out! the trilliums are starting to bloom here and soon it'll be morel hunting season! and the wild leeks are almost ready too. can't wait!
good luck all you hunters out there!

yeah i could have easily used even cylinder bore yesterday LOL. they were so close! i had a hen coming in and she bolted and i couldn't figure out why she had bolted when i saw the head pop up behind a deadfall about 20 feet away! 2 jakes, and they actually did not get hung up on the deadfall, just walked around it, amazingly and were about 15 feet from me when i aimed super low with the turkey choke. ha ha. as is the pattern was microsmall. so next year i have to remember modified (i don't have a cylinder bore tube for my SG). DH has another tag. i call a quits on turkey after 1. Sent our 2 samples in to Guelph already :-) have 1 more kit and 1 more tag (DH) so i know what he'll be doing this weekend. also funny, you'd think that DH would have scared the birds from that spot, well, turns out we both took birds within 50 yards of each other, just in opposite ends of the day.
