Gray/Black squirrels are considered small game so can only hunt them during open season. Red Squirrels are considered furbearers so no hunting them, only allowed to trap them for their pelt, if you are a licenced trapper. All 3 can be killed if causing damage though.

I totally agree. They are beyond a PITA. But they are having their second litter and are grabbing food. Chipmunks on the other hand........

Does the “season” for squirrel hunting apply to dogs🤪
If so I better inform mine they are out of “season”. Lol

Haven't seen a squirrel in 2 days now. This follows one getting into the pen with the Mums and babies and not doing so well. It did get away in the end but perhaps it warned the others?

Hunt them during the scheduled season. Pest control is different, and a year round option. They are fairly easy to live trap and relocate if you prefer.

Oh I have no problem "relocating" them. Neighbour just loaned me a sweet little side by side .410!

It’s funny I have a red squirrel that I only ever see in my front yard. He leaves the husk of the black wAlnuts he eats on my top step. And he collects the acorns from my oak tree. Oh and teases the dogs relentlessly. That’s the only squirrel I ever see outside of winter time. And I never see him in the backyard. That seems to be chipmunk turf. Like a rodent gang war. I opted for a dwarf tomato plant on my front deck and was blaming the squirrel for stealing ripe tomatoes but then I saw a Banty runnIng around with one in her beak and 7 others in a row chasing her 😡. I should have known better.
