Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing
Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing
Well another year of teaching ended last week on June 30th.
I like to stay current and continue to learn new things so this past weekend I went back to school for a 2 day, 25 hour, course!!!
Teaching and learning never ends, I am not sure if I can add this course to my teaching certificate....??
But I had a great time and picked up a lot of great information at the 1st Salmon School hosted by Greg Amiel of Fishing4Tails Charter sevice and Gavin Cameron of GetBit Sport Fishing.
I could not make the in-class seminar of the Thursday evening, but I was there ready to go on Saturday morning at 5 am. We fished Saturday from 5 am to 8 pm, coming to shore once for an hour for a great lunch of BBQ ribs and chicken. The fish were active and biting all day of Saturday, it was a great day on the water. Each boat must have caught 30 to 40 fish at least. Including a nice triple header of 22 pound salmon.
Sunday we fished from 5 am to 3 pm, water conditions were similar to Saturday so we were a little surprized that the fish did not seem to be actively biting when we hit the water, we searched around and changed things up a bit and eventually started to catch some decent fish and ended up with another good day on the water.
It was a great weekend, we did not get our 30 pounders that we were hoping for, but I caught a bunch of fish, my biggest for the weekend was around 26 pounds, with another 6 or 7 fish over 20 pounds and numerous fish in the "teens" and smaller eating sized fish.
I attached a few photos of a few of the better fish. If the weather cooperates heading back out on Friday with a couple friends to try out what I learned.

Thanks PTOers. Heading out again on Friday if the weather cooperates, myself and 2 rookie salmon fishers, so hopefully we get at least something.

Al I will hopefully be visiting my parents near London for a few days, probably in early August. If I do I will be bringing my boat, we could hit Lake Erie for walleye and rainbow trout.
