Fall Fishing!!
Fall Fishing!!
Well Fall is one of my favourite times to fish, well actually any time of the year is good. I was going to kill a couple hours today visiting the Vernon bird auction to watch, but got a better often to go fishing today with an old fish buddy, so figured that would keep me out of trouble.
We trolled for 3 hours without a single bite, even though we were marking tons of fish on the sonar... finally when it warmed up a bit the fish decided to come to play and we finished the day with a few hours of good fishing for walleye, pike and smallmouth bass. Here are a few of the fish that visited the boat today...

Re: Fall Fishing!!
Did you take any of them home to have for dinner? Walleye and pike are yummy! (DH knows how to filet pike with minimum bones.)

Re: Fall Fishing!!
We caught 11 fish, took home 2 walleye for the table. Fall is mainly my time to try and catch trophy size fish, catch and release, walleye over 10 pounds and pike over 20 pounds is the goal. Today we were close biggest walleye was 9 pounds and a couple pike around 15 pounds. Summer time is "fishing for food" as well as catch and release. I don't keep a lot of pike to eat, but can filet them quite well with minimal bones. My dad was smart and had me take over fish cleaning duties on our family fishing trips when I was young so he could relax and not get eaten alive by mosquitoes at the end of a night of fishing. lol

Re: Fall Fishing!!
NICE fish, congrats! Omg, walleye are tasty, one of the very very few freshwater fish I will eat. Second only to sturgeon.
Great catch Jim
