Nice going Kath. No blood sounds right with a lung shot. Back in my youth, I shot quite a few with a 22, pop them in the ribs behind the shoulder point, and the lungs or heart, no blood. They bleed out internally, big clots in the lungs and some in the body cavity.
And no, I am not advocating deer hunting with a .22 But when you are 20 yards, long rifle hollow points, deer standing sideways, out in the boonies and 14 yrs old, it worked, and worked well. My dad threatened my life if I ever tried it on a moose or elk or bear, but grudgingly allowed it for deer.
Anyway, enjoy the provender of the land.
