Intro to beekeeping workshop - JASPER, ON

Post by Bakers Backyard » Thu Mar 03, 2016 12:38 pm

Hi,
I keep a couple of my hives on an organic farm near Jasper that runs a year round CSA program. They also host a series of workshops through the year, one of which they asked me to organize which will be an introduction to beekeeping workshop.
It will be taking place Saturday June 4th from 9am to 12pm.
This will give participants more information on bees, what you need to get started keeping bees, where to acquire bees and equipment, how to care for your hives, as well as discussion on conventional beekeeping methods vs. more natural methods of beekeeping.
There will be an observation hive on site, as well as an optional hive inspection you can join in on or watch from a distance.
More information is found at this link on the farm's website. It should be a casual informative and fun session, and hopefully it will encourage more people to start a couple hives in their backyards for fun and help boost pollination in their surrounding areas.
