Being both a grain farmer... and bee keeper.... some of this is encouraging. I know that my husband HAS to attend a workshop that will teach him what he needs to do to obtain treated seed.

By first, mapping every single field being cropped by seed traditionally treated.... and doing soil testing. Its going to be more costly... but hopefully by cutting back on the neonic's applied, there will be savings there.

The meeting I was at yesterday morning had a person from a local co-op speaking as well. His prediction was that in a few years someone will have developed a filter for cameras to filter out the light reflected from white mold on beans. When combined with a UAV, it could be found waaaaay earlier at the beginning of an outbreak and spray a much smaller area.
I'll be watching that one. Sounds interesting...
