MacTavish the almost Blue Columbian cockerel got to go out on a first date with his intended Columbian hens.
Although the girls have been throwing themselves at him shamelessly, he seems to be tad baffled ;)

He seems to have gathered instant following...

oops, they spotted me, end of candid photo session..

Got to love Wyandottes, by evening they happily settled down, in true gentlemanly fashion, MacTavish in the protective outside position.

OC they are lovely! They are in perfect condition too. I've got a question- I was wondering how you separated your different Wyandottes. Are these breeding pens? If so, do you keep both blue and columbian hens together in the "off" season or do you keep them like this in separate, small flocks?

Funny you should say that, as I was going thru them doing the Manicure/Pedicure/Brazilian trim,
decided they looked pretty good after a terrible start, when I was looking for high protein supplement to get them in to good condition for breeding season, (can't find the thread now) not sure if it was my effort or if they would have improved without my efforts anyway.:)

They will all go back to one flock of Wyandottes with one Main Rooster at the helm (my vote is Hamish;) but the final vote will go to the one with the most gentlemanly manners! ;)
and one flock of Ameraucanas with one main Rooster also, not much chance for a gentleman there! :)

OC Your roosters are good boys, I'm thinking I will have to separate out the hens from the roosters this year. Even one rooster has damaged the back feathers........... can't have that!
