This juvenile something turned up yesterday. Likely hunting the sparrows that sit under the truck. Smaller ? sharp shinned? Just saw the pointy wings so Merlin???

Checked this out at Cornell and it's not that - wrong shaped wings. Leaning towards the Merlin.

No real perspective, how big is it? A merlin/sparrow hawk is not very big.

It is maybe 10" which would fit. It wasn't until it flew off I could see the pointy wings. Also has an eye stripe. It sits on the tiller now. We did have a pair around here.

It seems fairly late fo a juvenile, I noticed the wild turkeys brought off second (possibly 3rd) clutch, still fairly recognizable youngsters by the size, I wonder how they will manage once the real cold hits ?

My turkeys are still laying and the girls are trying to breed. I've broken up a couple of broodies already!
