Broody hen?

Post by Shnookie » Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:02 pm

My gold Serama hen (Pinchy) seems to be going broody. She's been sitting a lot for the last few days and lifts the feathers on her back when I go near her pen. She's also making some funny noises when I'm around. Too bad she doesn't have any eggs.

She had been laying, but hasn't for the last few days. The hens and roosters are separated so the eggs wouldn't be fertile. I want to hatch some this year if I can.

Ah, just sayin......if you are thinking of hatching some this year...you might want to put the boys and girls together.....I'm pretty sure that's how you get fertile eggs....lol and your incubator is clearly ready for action :stars:

I know. I don't think the feed they are on is nutritious enough for healthy chicks. They don't sell a breeder feed here. I am going to look into getting some game bird or turkey starter. I also have no running water for the next 1 1/2 months, maybe more. I am considering ordering eggs for hatching this year - a few different breeds.

I tried to find some eggs for her. There are none available in this area. :(
