Yellow summer squash and zucchini

I planted a yellow summer squash next to a zucchini this year.
I didn't realize that there might be cross pollination.
I think the result is pretty and they taste fine. Apparently some other creature likes them too because I have found several with chunks out of them.

Mine started yellow and then went like that I believe it's reversion virus?

I don't know what that means but it sounds like something not good. Does this mean we shouldn't be eating them?

No it's totally fine. It's like when you have pink asters and the colour reverts to purple. It's just a thing that makes it revert to what a parent would have looked like!

Oh me too, and my mother saw her mother in the mirror as well. Maybe it's the darned mirror!!!!
