"Forest" the laid back Lab

Post by Ontario Chick » Tue Mar 19, 2019 12:30 pm

House sitting in Coquitlam with Forest, four year old chocolate Lab, that has got to be the most laid back dog ever.
One interesting peculiarity, when I take him for a walk, he picks up his tents ball and carries it in his mouth all thru the walk and brings it back home.
This makes him very good with other dogs, coz he is too busy holding his tennis ball, also makes him look like a really big hound, because you can't actually see the ball, just his lips hanging over it :)

Handsome dog.
My neighbors chocolate lab was the same, really laid back, didn't care about tennis balls though.

That's my chocolate lab to a T.
He MUST carry something in his mouth. He doesn't care much about other dogs-prefers toys or humans and preferably not child humans because #1-they can't throw far enough and #2-HE is the child. He has multiple stuffed toys that have to go with him everywhere. He gathers them all up to bring to bed with him at night and then makes a thing of it in the morning carrying them out one by one to place on his bed in the living room. The only time he gets crazy is when we go to the beach or the river or if I bring a new ball or toy home.

Sounds like a typical Lab. My chocolate, Chloe, is the same way about liking to carry a toy on our walks. She finds it comforting. She's great with stuffed toys, carries them around the house everywhere she goes and never destroys them - unlike Abbey who is a "ripper". Gotta love those Labs :).

Lovely looking dog. I had a cocker spaniel who would only play with her pink golf ball. Give her another colour, she couldn't have cared less. Every day she would dig that pink golf ball out of her toy box and bounce it on the wood floor.....Dogs are just great in general.
