Well... That's not that different from coffee in k-cups... The stuff is what $40 per pound? When gourmet coffee is $15 and budget coffee $10 or less per pound.

Or me ... My eggs probably cost me $10 per dozen all in vs $3 at the grocery store...

Thats true Bert...MJ was just reminding me the detailed expenses on the egg production. I sell some of the eggs, and have probably sold enough to recover the initial cost of the chicks and maybe two bags of feed. Im a little off the beaten track so farm gate is tougher. And i built the coop from recovered material about 80%. And Ive been eating my eggs since late october, so maybe I've broken even on expenses but having used used materials, who knows...yeah, maybe 10 bucks..lol

You betcha Tom... And what does it cost hunters per pound for meat? Or what does Jimw spend for each pound of trout? (Boat, gas, trailer, licenses, equipment, truck to pull the boat...)

I better go to confession...I swore I wouldn't discuss "chicken math" on the new site... :-)))

Our what do our municipalities spend for "recycling" or "garbage". (And why don't we have modern incinerators like they use in Sweden and Norway?)

I hear ya... I try to look at it as these are my hobbies (fishing, keeping poultry...) I could play golf and spend all my money on golf equipment and golf club fees, and get nothing in return, just money out of my pocket and enjoyment, I don't think 2 hard boiled golf balls would be a great breakfast. So atleast when I spend all my money on fishing gear and poultry, I get enjoyment, an empty wallet and hopefully some eggs, meat and fish for the table.
