Ha! Ha! Yes I love the whites when they are nice and clean and fluffy but some are pigs and get themselves dirty in no time. So bath time it is, but others need baths as well so I'll have to see whos next. Its a great chance to check them over closely to trim nails and beaks and make sure no parasites. This time of year is best for me as its not nice outside so I have the time, just make sure they are totally dry. My older birds I will leave inside overnight to ensure acclimatized back to cooler conditions, my house is cold at night.

Heres my next one an older cockeral that gets more golden in colour as he ages, he was orginally more paint in colour, a problem in some paint lines. Just a pet now. He's got major pin feathers so I might have to keep him in the house for a few days.
Here he is in the sink, no I don't use sunlight I use no more tears baby shampoo.
Hes like this all over.

Thanks very much for explaining how to do it. I really do appreciate it.kenya wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 9:43 amI bathed them , blowed them dry, put them in front of the heater the rest of the day then out to their pen with a heat lamp. They'll be fine. If it was my older birds I'd leave them inside overnight to ensure totally dry.
Yes I find my silkies are a little more fragile then my other breeds in some ways, they can stand very cold weather but not cold and wet. I almost always have a heat lamp going in winter with the younger ones.

Re: Spa day
Ok so here he is with a trim so he can see, I was going to do an updo but then realized I'm not showing him so this will be best for him. I moved him back out with his girls today.
This is before, you can see looks great but he can't see.
Feathers were plucked just below his eyes.
Silkies can and do die just because they can't see to find food and drink.
