Poultry Talk Ontario (pto.ca)

A friend of a friend took this picture last weekend. They sent it to me to see if I knew what the owl is holding, and if I was missing any chickens. I think it looks like a Silkie. Any other ideas? It's not my bird.

Nice to see an owl, but NOT holding a chicken .

If you don't look too close, it looks like the owl has a teddy bear.

The lady who took the picture drives around in our area taking wildlife pictures. Her camera has a large zoom lens. One of the people in the next town started a wildlife photo contest this year for locals. The woman who took the owl picture is doing the judging for it. Some of her pictures are on the site. They are awesome. I have submitted pictures too (with my Canon PowerShot automatic camera) and won a couple of prizes.

It does look like a Silkie, but if I squint, I can pretend it's a rabbit.

The picture is wonderful, I have sadly been on the where'd my silkie go end of this picture.

I don't like seeing someone's poor chicken dead but what a gorgeous creature. Beautiful photo!

There aren't many people in the area that have any kind of livestock. I have a hunch who it might belong to.

Amazing that they can pick up and fly with something so close to their weight! Love owls
