These are a couple of the straight run Blue Ameraucana that I bought earlier this spring (5 of 5 turned out to be pullets!!!). They are currently almost 5 months old. Beautiful, aren't they?? Ill be looking for a splash roo for them next spring

I may end up ordering a batch of BBS eggs or chicks and hoping for a decent cockeral. Easier to integrate into the main flock.

Why a splash roo? It will give you half splash offspring and lighten the blue offspring fading the lacing as well.
Pretty pullets.

I will have several extra blue and splash roos. Too bad you aren't closer. :) I don't know the quality yet.

Pretty pullets.
I was looking for Splash this spring when I bought these, but could only find blue and black. I love the look of the splash. Would a blue cockeral produce a nicer splash (even thought there would likely be less splash offspring?)

There is no guarantee of colour quality , but over several years of breeding Blue to Blue only, there was a great variety of depth of splashes from very high contrast to almost white.
But if you have no interest in Blacks, Blue to Splash either way, i.e. Splash cockerel to Blue hens or Blue cockerel to Splash hens is the way to go.
