This is Nippy, a hen I hatched out about 4 years ago with a bunch of turkeys. She’s quite a character and fearless (probably because she had to put up with a crazy bunch of turkeys for the first several months of her life). She’s a cross between a New Hampshire rooster and a red brown Ameraucana. She has muffs and a small beard but her coop mates seem to like trimming them.
But just wondering where her funny little crest came from!

Re: My crested hen
Is that on the back of her head, or coming up from her ears? If it's on her head/neck, I would suspect she has a scar there, either a hatching injury or from being pecked and having her skin torn.

It’s on the top of her head rather than her ears. You could be right, the poults she was with loved pecking her and so she has no tail at all. Even so, she was always the boss of them!
