My new coop

Post by Giffen Farms » Mon Apr 23, 2018 9:19 pm

My new coop has finally arrived :HappyDance: was delivered around noon today, just need to level out the gravel base a bit more before I call the township to do their final inspections, i didn't realize how uneven and not nearly long enough it was.

It's a 12×24 prefab shed, the plan is to have the inside divided into five 8'×5'(approx.) pens along the back wall and a 4' walk way along the front of them, with each pen I'll cutout a door and build separate fenced runs outside.

I'll have to get someone in to trench in the hydro from the house and a water line too as I would like to use those cage water cups/nipples in each pen, I'd eventually like to get the same company to build me an addition on the end wall to keep my rabbits in but that can wait until at later date.

This has been in the making for a few years now, and finally glad it's here, cant tell you how mamy times I've drawn out a layout as to how i wanted the interior to look, and kept coming back to this design.
My rule if thumb is around here is "if it can't earn it's income than it's not sticking around" and my fowl over the years have more than 70% paid for this shed alone. People laugh when I say I raise chickens...but look where they've gotten me.

It looks like a well made shed. Congratulations! Your plan for the inside sounds similar to what I would like to have.

It's called DuraTemp siding, looks and feels/textured like wood

I opened two today and there was a nice breeze moving through, the old coop had 1 small window and an exhaust fan that was right beside the door, which did nothing unless the door was closed but then nobody could go outside 😕
