March came in like a lamb

Post by Happy » Thu Mar 01, 2018 3:55 pm

Everyone enjoyed some time outside today and Sherman has 3 fat bottomed young girls following him around like he’s Brad Pitt. They’re actually swooning lol.

Stella is the only chicken I’ve seen that flaps one wing at a time. I need to get a video of it. Strange girl.

I guess I know what’s coming here tonight!
At least we’re used to this weather, the poor buggers across the pond are dealing with the “Beast from the East” and most everything’s shut down...

Pretty tame here last couple of days...cool today but above 0 although its really damp in the air...windy tonight too...Ottawa forecast is for some snow tonight into to orrow but we rarely match up to that so here's hoping...saps been flowing since the weekend and some along the St Lawrence have been at it for over a week...kinda early but its been a weird winter so why should the impending spring be much different?..birds like it tho and are enjoying going outside scratching around...not many bugs yet but hope springs eternal in their world...a stampede at the hatchway when i unlock things in the morning...went out last night to the rock/bsl coop and locked it up...in the dark and didnt notice the rooster not in the coop on the roost...went out this morning to open up and he was dead on the ground...no signs of trauma and anyway we dont get too many predators here with the ever present LGDs...bumjmer tho...stiff as a board so he died in the night sometime...now the choosing of his replacement...think ill wait for the weekend so i can observe the outcome.....

Anyway, happy March to all... :running-chicken:

Aw, that's a shame, @TomK . If there were no signs of trauma, I imagine it would've happened even if he was in the coop, because it was pretty "mild" last night, and no precip.

Stella flapping one wing lol. She jogs in a circle when he does this. Then flaps the other wing and runs the opposite way.
