Finally got my very own chicken TV

Post by Jaye » Sun Jan 17, 2016 8:39 pm

It was hubby's Christmas present to me, but was on back order so didn't get here until this past Friday. He got it mostly set up yesterday.
Still some stuff to be fine-tuned, but thought I'd share a night pic, thanks to infra-red lighting. It's not HD quality, because that's isn't in our budget, but I'm really pleased with what we got.

Thanks!!
It's been more than just entertaining - it's been educational ... and a mystery solver: I wondered why the feed had been going so fast the last few days. Turns out a grey squirrel has been a regular at the feeder in the coop (and probably at the feeder in the run too). He was there several times today. We have set up a live trap in the coop during the day when the pop door is open, and hopefully will catch the clever little bugger soon.

It's sitting on a clay pot with an incandescent light bulb in it to keep the water from freezing - works up to -10C at least. The glow is because the light still shines through around the edges of the aluminum plate that is wedged in to the top of the clay pot. It's a ring of red light, very dim really.

That's awsome!! So for us tech geeks (hubbies), what make/model of camera did he get you? How did you overcome the dust problem?
The pics look awesome!
The reflective ring around the waterer is an art effect with reflections. Not much can be done about that imho except changing all kinds of angles (lights, waterer, lense, ....) And that is just not feasible.

Ditto! Awesome! I love it and that is what I want. I've been discussing it with my husband for a while now. Well, I tell him how very much I would like one, so I can watch my poultry. Wouldn't have to go out to check on them, so much. I could check on them anytime.
