Marauding herds

Just as soon as the Day lilies emerged the marauding herd is here to clip them,
there is a young one with them, too big for this year, must have been a late one last summer.
I need to redirect them, there are some cedar hedges that need trimming....

Same here OC, record year for both moles and voles, the lawn is a complete mess. The deep snow gave them a lot of cover to hide under. The deer here are bad as well, stripping the bark off all my different types of shrubs and apple trees, even the lilacs and I never saw them do that before. Some look really starved, just a big head on a skinny body. Grass is starting to grow so hopefully they will move away.

Ugh as if the moles aren't bad enough, I have a two year old boxer that is ripping up all the grass digging huge holes looking for them. Very frustrating. And on top of that a territorial robin who fights his reflection in my windows ALL DAY LONG.

There are hundreds of voles here this year too. They even peeled my tree peonies. Lots of mice as well. As a result, I have lots of predators here too - coyotes, hawks, owls, ravens, gulls, and a weasel. I saw a grackle eating a sparrow, and another one eating a vole. I didn't know they were predators too.

Lol Ross, they don't need to be lilac flavored, they can do me some good and eat young popular instead! As for the turkeys, around here they should taste like the farm turkeys since they were clever enough to stay out of the deep snow and on the local farms stealing grain. I couldn't get my camera phone working quick enough but one turkey hen came up close to the living room window. She looked really good and was huge, fat and shiny so she must have wintered somewhere good.

I heard them this morning in my old trusty spot as well. And there are two ground draggers marauding around in the field right now.

Can't wait for Tuesday.....
