One of my broody silkies managed to hide a trio of eggs from me until they were too far along to swipe from her...

So here is the first day old hatched overnight on Thursday - rooster possibilities Mille Fleur D'uccle or White Crested Black Polish and (I think) the black silkie hen.

adorable! i've always thought black+white chicks are the cutest babies
would love to see pics of it growing up especially if its a mutt, also who's that crested lady in the background?

She (I'm going with she unless proven otherwise) is a little cutie.

The crested lady is a gold laced polish. Her poof is usually much larger, but she keeps dipping it in the water and then dragging it through the stall dry until it cakes on the end of each feather, weighing her head down. So, she got a winter haircut (;

Oh no, I shouldn't have looked, I think I have been cutenated because now I want to pull out the bator!

At some point in the night momma gave up sitting on her other 2 eggs to follow the little fuzz butt. So, I had to pull out the mini-incubator and pop them in. One was pretty cold & the other still fairly warm. I'm not sure how old they are, as she was hiding them one at a time! I will try to candle them tonight and see if they are viable.

Here is the mixed polish/Silkie baby all grown up. She started laying roundish white eggs at 5 months! She is the shiny black one in the back. In the middle here. She has black skin & is booted, like her mom, but smooth and shiny like her dad & has a mini head poof!

I love her! So cute :)
