Absolutely fascinating.
Finally hit the library and was able to look at the large version of pictures.
The bottom cockerel looks like an EE
The second pullet from top, definitely suggestion of Blue laced Red
The third pullet from the top looks like my F1 outcross of Columbian to Blue Wyandottes.
Looking at these birds and the possibilities that crop up moment you cross any breeds, makes me marvel that we are actually able to breed anything that breeds true and resembles SOP for the given breed.
Dont show any of this to Jan, I can see a possibility of at leas 4 new breeds...

Yes, she's more laced that she looks. The EE guy has feathered legs. She came from a dark brown Barnevelder egg.
re: SOP, remember that lovely Blue pullet that was a major mix? Don't worry the boys are destined for freezerdom unless I keep the EE to put over a dark brown egg layer to get olive?

I'm afraid you are correct. I hatched a random red cockerel that has blue lacing on his breast and blue mottled on the rest of him... absolutely stunning but I have no use/room for him except as dinner...unless I add to the breeding condo plan and actually get them finished and find him a suitable girlfriend...LOL!!!! Definitely gets the wheels turning. I may be hopeless :/Ontario Chick wrote:QR_BBPOST Absolutely fascinating.
