This isn't our first broody but the best so far.
12 chicks tagging after her.
She's a black copper Marans cross.
They went on the roost (top one of course in the eaves) first time last night.

That's awesome, wow 12 chicks, love it. Busy mom. One of our Partridge Chanteclers had 5 babies hatch yesterday.

I have 7 moms running around with their chicks and, at last count, 6 sitting. Loving it!

Nice. We only have 2 moms, as we lost one a while ago. The other one has just one baby. One of them had three earlier in the season. This is our biggest hatch yet with the five. This is our first year. We got 3 chickens and 1 roo last fall. It will be more awesome next year, as the herd grows.

I love seeing mamas and their babies, especially good mamas that manage to get all their babies to roosting age! I have another two pullets go down in the past three days, but am not getting enough eggs to be picky about what they're sitting on, because it seems everybody is broody, thinking about it, or toting chicks around.

Windwalkingwolf, I gave up trying to "convince" the girls not to sit in such hot weather. I had another 2 start sitting this weekend. It seems to have calmed down the whole flock with hens sitting, hatching or taking care of chicks.
My flock is all together this year (except for the Wheaton Ameraucanas) and the teenagers seem much better behaved than last year. All those mom's yelling them what to do.
