Introducing Ava

Once in a while you get lucky twice. I struck a gold mine with Cinder. Losing her when she was so young was a blow to my soul. Cinder was my canine soulmate. She was more than I could ever want in a German shepherd.
Today I believe I have been one of the lucky ones, twice. This girl picked me. It was an instant connection. I was on my knees on the grass and she came and looked into my face and we locked eyes. Then she licked me. She sat at my side while the others all ran around and played. I encouraged her to go and play, she went, but came back, kisses and went again and came back, kisses. I walked away for a moment to think and when I turned around, there she was sitting staring up at me. No doubt in my mind who was coming home with me.
I held it together while I was there, but when I got in the car I was a blubbering mess! It's a good thing Lou came with me for the drive, anticipating my emotions.
Ava and I got home @ 6pm. A long day for both of us. Of course her and Drake are best buds already and OF COURSE she is the boss Of him already.
When we got home, after drake and her introductions which was 30 seconds (instant love) I fed her and then off to do coop chores. She was at my side. Sat and studied the chickens, chicks and ducks while I topped up feeders and refreshed waterers. She's a natural.

Coop chores are exhausting!! Also learning to not chew my shoes! So smart!!
