Photos of my new baby Cayuga duck taken today. Born July 4th. I'm hoping it is a girl. I named her Penelope and will probably call her Penny. I had another duck last year Welsh Harlequin that I named Wilma thinking it was a girl and ended up changing his name to Will. Out of habit I still call him Wilma though. I had another duck last year a Blue Swede I named Frank and ended up changing her name to Francis. We shall see!

Thanks guys! I love her/him. This little one is so good and quiet.

I had a lone male Welsh Harlequin last year and I was positive he was a girl, so I named him Wilma. He was noisy and always demanding attention. He did not like being in his house alone. I couldn't always let him out as I have a cat. I thought female ducks were noisier. That is the downside of having only 1. Mind you it could be that Cayuga's are more quieter, as I have a male Cayuga who is 2 years old and he is very quiet. I still hope this is a female. We lost our female Cayuga the first year to a skunk.

Hope she turns out a girl. Hard year for girls though with chickens, hopefully it's different with ducks.
