How do you start them off? Just leave the door open?

Do you mean as chicks? Just open the door, it takes them about 5 minutes to figure it out :)

Lovely OC!

Mine have been on grass and ranging since about 5 days old, but they had their silkie mom. She hauled about 30 of them around (I can't even remember how many chicks I have)

Now they have their little packs and are off and running each morning. The teenagers are amazing rangers searching all day.

One of the groups coming from way out back when I called them

This rock needs her own podium to complain. She walks around whining and complaining allllll day!

Love seeing them out and about, I had some of mine out and put them back in later in the day but I missed one leghorn girl, she must have wandered off, anyway the neighbour brought her back saying she found her on her back porch laying an egg. The poor girl must have really upset her now she refuses to go out, if I make her she just flies up and back in again. Here I was thinking the brat took off on me, instead she was really upset about being left out, only for a couple hours but obviously it scared her.
