I don't know what this tree is. Do any PTO'ers know what it is? It's naked at the moment, apologies :D

Weeping mulberry

mmmm mulberries I need some of those trees! I know where there was about 50 massive mulberries when i was a kid, not weeping, the big ones, I wonder if they are still there. ill have to take a drive with my prunning shears. its public property, we used to go n eat the berries like crazy as kids.

I never seen weepings give berries? do they? hmmm.... they are beautiful little trees.

Mulberries can be male, female or both. Gawd if you can't find any trees, I can save some seeds for you (but they aren't weeping mulberries) if you like. Let me know. It depends on how well they overwinter, some years they freeze back so hard we don't see any fruit.

Robbie anyway to tell male from female now lol? prolly stupid question LOL. im going for a drive tommorow. ill make sure to get clippings from a lot of trees. I hope they are still there.

Looks like a weeping mulberry ,we had one years ago the rabbits chewed all around the trunk, we thought it was dead but it grew up from the base but was no longer weeping and looked like a standard not a miniature. We moved it back into the pasture, it's a large tree now and gives loads of mulberries every year. We let the birds have most of them. Loads of cedar waxwings come every year for the berries. You can have slips of it if you want Al.

Yeah the weeping ones are grafted- any suckers that grow from the bottom will not be weeping mulberries.
