I image it would be better less chance of cocci on wire, do you feed medicated chick starter or no?

When I first started hatching chicks I used to use the wire rabbit cages as brooders with the fine welded wire on the bottom. Zip tagged cardboard on the sides to keep the draft off them. Worked great, way less dust and yes your right kenya never had cocci when I raised them on it, although I always feed medicated chick starter.
