Yes it should be rednija!! I have had 8 of my birds go broody, all different breeds, even one of my EO hens and they are not typically broody. What does that mean???? LOLredninja wrote:QR_BBPOST Great to see a good mom and chicks. They're beautiful! We should name this the year of the broody.

Yes it's odd. I lost 2/3 of my broodies in January to the dog but 2 more stepped up to fill the space!

Update
The bottom brown/blueish one must be a boy. It's very friendly and bolder than any of the others. Mum is doing a great job and at a week old introduced them to me! There is a silvery one too but it's shy.

Very colorful, the bottom one looks like blue laced red?
Never mind, finally downloaded the large version in the library, so not blue laced red, just sort of... :)
I must say its fascinating to see all the possibilities, a bit surprised we can ever breed
anything close to breed standards.

Are pics one and three the same bird? Looks like a girl(s) :D I really like the stripey feather pattern. I think you're right, the one in the bottom pic has boy legs and feet, and so does the columbian looking fellow (light brahma mix? Any feather stubs on his legs?) Did any of the chantie mixes get a cushion comb? OMG, I have to quit looking at pretty and cute before I have 100 more birds.
