Thinking about having a bad day ?

Love ducklings nothing cuter then that.
I remember you had trouble with the mess they make after they go from very cute to very sloppy :)
The chicken water dish doesn't last too long for them, they need to submerse whole beak to drink, I remember somebody posted some great duck watering dishes on PSO and I wished I had thought of that when we had ducks, simple and contained the water so much better then any poultry dishes.
You may already have one, but if you don't perhaps another thread on watering ducks may be good?

Make sure that after their playtime in the water you dry them off or they can be water logged as they have no oils on them yet until about 8 weeks old. They rely on moms oils rubbing off and onto them in the wild.

They are all so cute! So cuddly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my hatch. Lock down is on Friday Canada Day, but had an incident about a week ago or so with the humidity. Wait and see.

I used to have to sing that to my youngest when he was a toddler, accompanied by me squeaking a rubber duck, to get him to take a bath. He was afraid of the drain. But me enthusiastically singing and squeaking "Rubber Ducky" always got the job done! No duck, no bath! Ahhh, memories. And memories (and nightmares lol) of baby duckies in the brooder! Congrats, Sandy, and I promise that Muscovies more than make up for the mess with their personality, even when grown!

Thinking about having a bad day ?

I seen this morning the first of the Calls was popping out of the shell so It should be a good week.
I had set about 25 call eggs and 20 made it this far and I set 60 Guinea fowl eggs and 50 made it this far.
All were set on 2 and 3 June. This is about a week after one of the call hens started to sit, she hatched out 5 but non have survived, either trampling, getting to far from mom and chilled, or not made it out of the egg so we grabbed them and added them to the incubator this last weekend.
Now to wait and see what actually pops out.
