2016 Hatch Stunners

:iagree: Very nice looking pullet!
I have two sweet little rent-a-chicks, just over a week old, so can't contribute to this thread yet, but they are sooo cute. A white crested black Polish and frizzle Ameraucana. I know - frizzle Ameraucana is not a recognized Ameraucana variety, therefore not a true Ameraucana. All I know is that she (ever hopeful) is so pretty ... and turning into a character already. At a week and a bit old, her wing feathers are coming in , and I can already see the frizzle. Will post pics soon. The little Polish is also starting to feather out nicely. So fun to watch them zooming around their mama.

LOL, no, it's never enough! I love the rainbow flock. Only colours I'm missing are silver duckwing and mille fleur LOL. Some of them have vulture hocks, which I think is ADORABLE. I'm probably going to select for them. Very few of these guys will be allowed to breed, but it IS a just for fun project, and man am I having fun! To move on to phase three, they have to 1. Have to obviously have at least one copy of the mottling gene, and have a base colour of black or blue without gold feather edging, 2. Have one copy for barring and one for columbian, AND those have to express as red, and only in hackles, tail and wing bows, 3. Have feathered legs or at least feather stubs, 4. Preferrably have white skin, but I'm accepting yellow for now, as long as 5. there's an extra toe. The one little guy in my hand would be just PERFECT as a breeder in the next phase, if he wasn't SO small. He is one of the first hatch this year, and I ended up having to put him and three others in with the second hatch for awhile, because of such a big size disparity. These tiny guys need heat longer, and I had one get crushed under a much larger half-sibling. I will probably remove the mother of these tiny ones from the project, but on the other hand, the little squinkies are growing on me!

They are all my own mutts in a breeding project. Virtually identical to landrace Icelandic chickens, but I'm going to be breeding for more uniform type, size, colour etc. I want them to be mottled black and white with red barring, but I love the partridge ones so much that I may do a separate line for them.

This guy is from our first hatch in the spring. Can't get over how brilliant his leg colour is. We've named him Azure.
