this took a good part of my evening...so mental note: but at premiere next time
...it is done and it doesn't leak...I read that silicone with mould killer was not good for water bottles and I didn't have aquarium silicone...I'm guessing aquarium silicone is ok for chickens?...so I made a rubber gasket out of a toilet flush valve (clean and never used) cut to fit inside a cap...It's is a Frankenstein creation but it works...now will the chicks like this water bottle?!

Good job.....next time try installing with a 3/16 drill bit...it's an odd size but that's what I found works best. With a little bit of silicone tape.good luck.lolotsung wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 12:30 amthis took a good part of my evening...so mental note: but at premiere next time...it is done and it doesn't leak...I read that silicone with mould killer was not good for water bottles and I didn't have aquarium silicone...I'm guessing aquarium silicone is ok for chickens?...so I made a rubber gasket out of a toilet flush valve (clean and never used) cut to fit inside a cap...It's is a Frankenstein creation but it works...now will the chicks like this water bottle?!20210418_001328.jpg

I loved watching them just collapse wherever they happened to be and that captures it so well!

The chicks are 45 days old and we brought them outside to a pen yesterday. We have them in a big dog crate in the coop. It is supposed to be 3 degrees tonight. Will this be too cold for them or should I turn on a heat lamp in the coop? Please see attached photos of what they look like. Also are the chicks with the larger comb and wattles roosters? Is it ok to add them to the flock in about 1 week? Thank you!

They look fully feathered, they probably don't need heat but would enjoy it..lol
Yes, the ones with bigger red combs and waffles are cockerals. The others pullets. Before adding them to your existing flock, they need to be about the same size. Otherwise they will be bullied. Integrating into an exiting flock takes time. If anything put them in a safe enclosure so your existing flock can see them but not get to them. They are only 6 weeks old. Way too young to be added to your flock. I have a mobile coop I use when I Integrate. Good luck
