Today 2 pm, does anybody remember when dear came out at dusk???
I did mention to them that I haven't planted anything yet and they would have to wait a bit before it's ready to be raided. ;)

at this point the dog was barking, but they were only mildly interested

I am afraid you are both right, I also noticed that when the dog started barking, the one in bottom picture on right didn't look toward the house where the dog was, but toward the dog run, where the dog spends most of the day in the summer time. :(
I wouldn't mind having one in the freezer ;)

It seems like we have been considering it for decades without coming to any actual decision, after watching them clear 4' feces with couple feet to spare, it would be too expensive to do it right and not the most attractive structure on the front lawn ;)
I do get annoyed at them but in the end I get to watch them so it's a fair exchange.
It looked like a doe and two yearlings and she was aware of me in the living room window, never stopped watching me, the two youngsters, completely oblivious :)
