I look at that picture and all I see is animal cruelty. Sorry, but I don't think that's funny.

Agree would be nice if didn't happen but once they pull it down no issue . I'm not sure if ain't photoshopped . Big difference in attitudes in 3rd world countries ,where here animals are used as pets & where animals earn their keep like they did here at one time in order that people could survive . We're lucky here we can afford a truck & fuel to do the heavy work . Luck

I agree with the sentiment..i have nothing against the utilizing of draught animals...if treated properly, and with respect...not as a totally subordinate species put on earth for our pleasure...the unspoken attitude presented in the picture is what is wrong...we publicize and wage a constant war here in our society against the blatant misuse and cruelty to animals and yet, somehow, we think this picture is funny...yes, its a clever play on words and i can certainly appreciate that all on its own, but really, I feel saddened, deeply, that these things exist still....i am not mainline religious in any sense of the word but there is a phrase in the Bible that goes something along the lines of..." And man shall have dominion over all the beasts "...that may be so, in that we can basically eliminate them all from the face of the planet should we choose, but i think what goes unsaid is that with that power comes a huge responsibility..for care and respect...loading that cart so that the donkey cannot cope with it and yet expecting it to manage anyway is a total discounting of this basic moral dictate...in my ever so humble opinion

Having posted this one, I want to now comment. The picture and situation are not nice, and I don't like it. The play on words and surprise element and humour aspect I do like. And if it makes us think about our human relationships to animals, then that is not bad either.

It is all over the news today that somewhere near me there has been a dog fighting ring broken up. It seems to have been well hidden. That disturbs me greatly.

At a minimum, this man's donkey was not being abused for pleasure or purposely. He and his family are probably dependent on it for their sustenance, and though not a pet as we would know it, it is an important part of the family's life and valued as such. They are probably as hard on themselves as they are on the donkey. I don't expect that happened a second time to this man or his donkey.

We don't have to be cruel to be put into cruel situations. It is how we then react that matters.
