Could be false marketing....
A while back my friend cracked one of her own eggs open to cook it and found an almost fully developed chick inside! She had gone on a business trip for over two weeks and her husband was to collect the eggs until she got back. When she questioned him about it he admitted that one of the Banty hens had gone broody when she was away ( she has a couple bantam hens, many standard sized hens and several various sized roosters) and he was afraid to put his hand under her to collect eggs because she would peck at him. The broody hen just happened to be off the nest one time he went in to feed and collect eggs so he took that opportunity to collect the 6-7 large eggs that were under her as his wife was due home and he thought she would be angry with him if he left them! ( and yes he is the city fella)!
