Nope. it was a lhaso apso. And apparently was very aggressive with the owners as well....so basically trying to run the place the best it knew how. Got the standard "dont know why the dog would do that, shes usually only aggressive if she is on the bed or the sofa or with her food"...

I had a Pomeranian have a go at mine once. Fortunately I was there. The guy (3 houses down) ranted it was the chickens fault because they free range and were in the middle of our 5 acres. He shut up when he saw the damage. Happy ending though, all the birds made it and we are now on good terms with them.

Does not matter the breed of dog, some dogs prey drive is stronger than others. My current dog was running around with chickens as a puppy from the place I got her. So thought great, she will be good with them but NOT so. She has pushed her way through chicken wire and fencing to get to them, I cannot leave her in the barn by herself or she will push through the wire and snatch one. So once I made my chickens safe and took the extra precautions she started going over to the neighbors and killing what she could. Had to spend $$ on fencing to contain her the back of the house and barn area
She is lucky I love her a lot, because overall she is a great dog and super watch dog.

somewhat of guilty of being a nancy no show
met a seller on kijiji a few months ago and replied to his ad for day olds. all i got were very cryptic, half sentence replies with no punctuation.
kept re iterating he had "red sex links and plymouth rocks and others". when i asked what 'others' meant he again replied with "red sex links and plymouth rocks and others" then finally just a cryptic "best if you come see"
after that i kind of stopped replying, and my roommates didnt want to drive an hour out nowheres to 'an anonymous chicken guy'
in my defense, being a 19 year old girl meeting some incoherent man from the internet never sounds good,,..

I must say I am with Bert, some dogs are better then others, but Husky and chickens bad combo.
We lost a guinea hen to a husky on next concession, few years back, the guy was kind enough to bring it back, I though it showed much intestinal fortitude,
And about 5 years ago old neighbor with new husky pup, it jumped the fence and carried off a hen which sent the neighbor in to complete hysterics, was really worried what was going to happen to the dog? In the end I said, my guess is, he will not need supper.
She never spoke to me again.
