Three wise men
There were 3 gifts mentioned. I suppose that since these gifts were very expensive; the interpretation was that there only needed to be 3 bearers, given that Frankincense and myrrh were used sparingly. So...if it was three wise women...1. they would have shown up on time (they asked for directions) ; 2. They would have brought useful gifts (diapers, a casserole, baby bottles) and 3. They would have cleaned the stable and helped deliver the baby.
