The meat chicken has finally reached it's maximum physiological ability to supply oxygen to that freakish breast. Hopefully breeders will go back to producing a more humane broiler chicken.

I can't seem to make the connection to the silicone world, but yes, when we over breed for a specific trait it's only natural to have consequences, even if not immediate

I don't like white meat anyway as most of the time I find it "woody". I like the dark meat. They need to stop messing around with them and just get them back to what they used to be before the Frankenchickens. I know this year any extra cockerels that I raise that don't find homes will be going in my freezer. Although I have a friend who raises meat birds and they are delish, even the white meat.

Are they called Frankenchickens because of Frankenstein?
I saw some at the auction last week and it put me off buying and raising them. I can't fix genetics and I sure as heck couldn't eat something from my backyard that looks like that. Regardless of the 'suppose too' factor. I can't unsee what I saw.
