Anybody watching the program on TVO and still thinks they have a privacy on Facebook?

There is a reason I don't have Facebook.

Yup, same here, and although I am aware of the problems, the young man's lawsuit really brought home the depth of the issues.
I have such admiration of people who have the brains and back bone to take on these things for the benefit of all.

Ahhhh I keep staying away but they do have some interesting forums on it as well, but so far I have not circumed.

So what's the difference posting on here or on facebook? You post something online it is online.

Facebook owns all the content you post, not you, and can choose to do with it as they wish. its the perfect data mining scheme. they know your name and everything else about you, phone numbers, home addresses, where you have been and where your going.

We dont.

And we dont sell your data. period.

And we dont own your content although we may use it to promote the site. such as pics and posts you have made that detail how great we are!

but this content does not leave our webpage. there are a couple posts on the homepage just like this. and if you didnt want us to use your content we would gladly oblige.

And that's why people who value their privacy really, really appreciate PTO , to have a public forum, without being marketed to constantly and being mined for personal information is a privilege, and I am well aware of it. :)

To add to the above... Facebook also knows where you were born, everyplace you lived, your parents, your siblings, your children, your significant other and all past relationships... and on n on. of course some of this info is voluntary but a lot of it isnt and is all data logged from wherever your standing /sitting. by ip addresses and gps/cellphone towers.

and what really bugs me the most is our children are growing up with this being normal. there aint nothing normal about it.
