Late to the trials

Every year in August the Canadian Sheepdog Trials are held at the large off leash dog park just outside of Kingston where Kukla and I go regularly. It was held this past weekend with competitors from far and wide including the UK and the US. It’s really amazing to watch the dogs work the sheep especially the final round where they have to merge 2 groups of 10 sheep, take them through a specific course and openings, then separate 5 marked sheep from the others and get them locked into a pen in the allotted time of 25 minutes.

The park has been closed the last week for the Trials and we were back this morning to the field still with the gates and pen.

Here is Kukla contemplating the Trial field.

Amazing that a dog can do all this. We used to watch the compétitions on TV.

Great photo!

Next year post the info here! I'm sure lots would love to go but, like me, forget.

Sorry, I should have thought about doing that!

It’s just so fun to watch and to have it so close even better!

The first time I saw a competition on TV, I thought it was a camera trick. Seemed like a wizard was controlling their minds. Saw a few mistakes, heard the commentators, and realized it was real life. 🤔🧐😲
